Old School Bagel Cafe.: A delightful start to the day

Image
Today my friends and I decided to get a nice, tasty breakfast. I had always wanted to try Old School Bagel Cafe, so, we went that way. I absolutely love this place! I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family. Food- I ordered the Wall Street which is a bagel sandwich with turkey, chive and onion cream cheese on an everything bagel. This bagel is awesome. It is the perfect blend of hearty flavors from the everything bagel topping. This combined really well with the turkey. I absolutely love bagel sandwiches that have cream cheese and the chive and onion cream cheese is creamy with a bit of bite from the chive and onion. Overall, amazing sandwich. I was really wanting to try it with sriracha but they only had this sriracha sauce and it wasn't that good. I tried most of my friends' bagels. They all got a variety of bagels and cream cheeses. Oh my word. Every single one was good and special in its own way.  They also have some amazing looking baked goods that I

Biga- Good, romantic but nothing exceptional

Image
So, my parents and I all decided to go to a nice dinner to celebrate the fact that I passed my Fundamentals of Engineering test (it's basically the test that certifies engineers). So, we decided to go to an Italian restaurant that my sister highly recommends, Biga. I apologize that the pictures are a little on the dark side; the restaurant has a darker mood lighting. Overall, Biga is a very nice restaurant to go to. It has a lovely atmosphere and good food. It doesn't have the best food in the world but it is tasty. I would come here again. Parking- They have a nice parking lot right in front of the restaurant. Gluten free- Nothing specifically designated gluten free. I'd call ahead. Food allergies- I personally did not have any issues here. Food- The waiter told me an interesting tidbit of information: Biga makes most of their pasta fresh every day. The only exception is the penne. Apparently it is a big penne to make (har har). Biga serves bread to every tab

Joe Momma's- Bland on Bland

A group of friends all decided to go out to Joe Momma's pizza tonight. I was really excited because I have not been to Joe Momma's before. There are mixed reviews online, so I wanted to find out for myself how Joe Momma's stacked up. Conclusion- The place is so cool on the inside. Some of you may hate me for saying this but I can't lie. I wanted to like the food so much but it was insanely bland. Out of everything that I ate there, only one thing was OK. I am incredibly disappointed. I'm used to medium priced pizza's quality. This was worse than most low quality pizza. Parking- Joe Momma's is located downtown, so, it was street parking for us. Food Allergies- Shellfish N/A for Joe Momma's Gluten free- They have a 10" gluten free crust that you can order. I actually took pictures of the food but the food didn't even look good, so, I'm not going to waste my time; the point of pictures is that it shows off the food but there wasn't

Bamboo Thai Bistro- absolutely tasty curries

Image
My friend and I are always on a search for good curry places. So, when my parents mentioned Bamboo Thai Bistro, we had to try it. Bamboo Thai Bistro is on the corner of 51st and Yale. Conclusion- I really enjoy this restaurant; it is cozy, nice and has amazing curries. We didn't actually try any of their other offerings but man, the curries are special. Parking- there is a parking lot right next to the restaurant. Food allergies- no issues with my shellfish allergies Gluten free- I don't think so. There is a lot of rice and noodles. I guess you could eat the curry sans rice. Food- My friend ordered the yellow curry and I ordered the peanut curry. They asked us what we wanted for the spice level and I said medium and my friend said hot. I like that you can customize on the spicy level. They also brought out free soup. Soup- Ok. This soup was a little different that I'm use to. It was almost sweet and sour. I honestly didn't like it but I can see why someone w

R Bar Brunch Review- Tasty and Fun

Image
My sister and I have a huge love for brunch. I'd heard that the brunch at R Bar was amazing, so, I pulled her along to try this local favorite.Their website says that their brunch starts at 11 (I'm not 100% sure this is true though) and my sister and I gladly slept in and then went on down. Conclusion The brunch at R Bar is really good. I would definitely come here again for brunch. It is one of the nicer brunches around and I always love their sense of humor with their brunch menu. Parking- R Bar doesn't have a set parking lot, so I recommend parking on the street in the neighborhood behind the restaurant. Food allergies- N/A. No shellfish on this menu. Gluten free- Nothing specified but it looked like there were items without gluten. I'd call ahead. Food We were surprised and happy to find a Halloween based menu! It made us smile and gave us quite a  bit to joke about. The Spooky Menu for the Day   R bar's brunch menu changes every week but it us

Tallgrass Prarie Table Review - The Best Meal I've Ever Had by Far

Image
I recently decided to start a food review blog and, based on all of the high praise, I thought that Tallgrass Prairie Table would be the perfect restaurant to begin with. I first learned about the Farm-To-Table movement when I was in Michigan. I've heard a lot of great things about Hope Egan's Farm-To-Table restaurant and I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype. So, I brought my friend to the restaurant. Do you know that meal that you eat and it just makes you so happy that you can't help but smile and giggle? That's the experience that we received at Tallgrass Prairie. It really lives up to its hype and then some. First let me apologize. I thought that I had taken pictures of everything but for some reason my phone was being a pain. So, the photos will be a little scarce. Oops. Update- Hope Egan is no longer the head chef of this resaurant. Stephen Lindstrom has taken her place. I haven't tried the food since the change, so, this may not be a fair and accu
